Having been born and brought up on the West Coast of Scotland, Gaelic culture and the surrounding natural world have had a major influence on my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, it was my preferred option to be outside, exploring and finding new things, however that wasn’t always possible and so the next favoured pastimes were sewing and drawing which filled many very happy hours.
Several years of making my own clothes, and clothes for others, followed, and I continued to draw and paint into young adulthood. Life then came along with all its’ distractions and here I am, many years later, lucky enough to have my own workshop, where I can bring these inspirations together again and try to design and create beautiful things that reflect some of what has influenced my life to date.
All of the cushions within our collections are a testament to my love of fabrics and fabric textures, which remains a constant across our designs. Silks, velvets, cottons and linens all feature, juxtaposed to create playful, tactile, products.
Flowers and gardens are another key influence, and explicitly and implicitly find their way onto prints, motifs and fabrics used throughout each of our collections. Other inspirations include the Gaelic language, (my first language), my love of animals, and ultimately, my own home and the things I’d like to see in it.
We are fiercely proud of our Scottish heritage, and hope to challenge your expectations with our interpretations of traditional and non-traditional themes. We are also keen to demonstrate our commitment to supporting small local business by sourcing all our fabrics and supplies from within the British Isles, and from within Scotland where possible.
